Welcome to Valanec! Welcome to Valanec Uhel, to be precise, this being the country cottage and experimental vegetable patch, and to Dremmwel, which is the main house and the gardens. Visitors often ask how the place developed, and what changes are afoot. This blog tries – or will try – to explain, and keep track of where things are going.
Valanec is a small hamlet in the commune of Hanvec, and lies at the border between North and South Finistère, in Brittany, France. It is south facing towards the sea (about 5 km away) and protected from the north and east by higher wooded land. The two houses are on 7000 m2 of sloping land that has been farmed for centuries, but is now a private garden.
